Orange Shirt Day on September 29

Friday, September 29th, will be Orange Shirt Day to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, acknowledging the impact of the Canadian Indian residential school system on our Indigenous families.

It is also our first Pizza Day and Dress Down Day for the year! While wearing their orange shirts, students can dress down by making a donation that will go toward The Orange Shirt Society. The cost of the DDD is a minimum of $2 or $4/family.

The Orange Shirt Society is a non-profit organization with its home in Williams Lake, BC where Orange Shirt Day began in 2013. The purposes of the Society are as follows:
  • To support Indian Residential School Reconciliation
  • To create awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of Indian Residential Schools through Orange Shirt Society activities
  • To create awareness of the concept of "Every Child Matters"
