Update Regarding Bond's Covid-19 Policies for New School Year
August 18th, 2021
Bond Academy is still reviewing and updating our Covid-19 policies for the upcoming school year. At this point, all Bond Covid-19 policies from the 2020-2021 school year will still be in place, however additional policies regarding vaccinations may be added contingent on the upcoming Ministry directives.
Here are some of the key points that are currently being discussed by the Ministry of Health. Please be prepared to have these measures addressed in our updated Covid-19 protocols that will be released by the end of August, 2021, as it will be essential to provide the safest working and teaching environment possible for our school community.
Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario's Top Medical Officer said at the Ministry of Health's August 17th, 2021 press conference, reported by Toronto Star:
- "employers in health and education will need to have policies that ask staff to disclose their vaccination status and require those who are unvaccinated to take an education session and be subject to regular rapid Covid-19 tests
- the directive takes effect on the first day back to school; Sept. 7th, 2021
- it would be "prudent" to require eligible schoolchildren aged 12 and older to report their Covid-19 vaccination status, since he is in active discussion with the Ministry of Education about an immunization policy for students
- the latest policy changes are necessary to protect at-risk individuals and unvaccinated children under the age of 12".
