Gr. 10 Class Mock Election Debate at Bond Academy
September 17th, 2021
Ms. Luk and her Gr. 10 Civics class held their Civics debate today, September 17th, 2021. They prepared for and participated in this debate that showcased their persuasive skills, as well as their ability to respond to questions and counter-arguments from the other parties. After some detailed research on the political parties' platforms and determining how they aligned with their own beliefs and values, the students cast their vote on September 20th.
The debate is a part of this year's Grade 10 Civics-Student Vote program. In this program, students learned about the structure of Canada's government and how they can become involved in the future. They were assigned to each of the five main political parties and had to learn about their party's promises and platforms in this year's federal election.
Led by Ms. Vassallo, the Gr. 9 students also observed the debate, which helps them learn about the major election issues and see what they will be involved in next year.
