Every Child Matters! Bond Stands In Solidarity With The Indigenous Community.

September 30th, 2022

September 30th is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Bond organized a series of activities throughout the week to honour the children who never returned home and Survivors of Residential Schools, as well as their families.

This week, Bond Library created a book list for students to learn more about residential schools. A memorial of children's shoes and historical photos was displayed in the front foyer.

On Thursday, Orange shirts were for sale on campus to support the Indian Residential School Reconciliation Charity.

On Friday, September 30th, each student who wore orange shirts made a donation to the Orange Shirt Society.

To raise awareness of the impact of the Canadian Residential School System on our Indigenous families, Bond Secondary students held an Orange Shirt Day Quiz Contest at noon. Although the quiz is challenging, five students won the contest and got a free dress-down day as their prize.

"Every Child Matters." Bond will always stand in solidarity with the indigenous community.
