Bullying Stops Here! Wearing Pink Together, We Can Make A Difference!

We here at Bond Academy have a ZERO tolerance policy towards bullying. Bond Academy raised awareness and affirms its commitment to combat homophobic, biphobic, and transphobic bullying. The International Day of Pink was celebrating allyship and those who take a stand against discrimination and hate. 

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2023 is Pink Shirt Day where the mission is to "create a more kind, inclusive world by raising awareness and funds for anti-bullying initiatives." Therefore, Bond Elementary and Secondary were raising money for Kids Help Phone and were encouraging all students to wear a Pink Shirt and donate $2.00 for the Dress Down Day.

A parent of a Grade 4 student was selling t-shirts for the event so that all of Bond staff and students dressed in the same t-shirt. Two dollars from each t-shirt sold at Bond would be added to our donation to Kids Help Phone with a fund-raising goal of $1,000!!!

Bullying is a major problem in schools, workplaces, homes, and online. Over the month of February, and throughout the year, Pink Shirt Day aims to raise awareness of these issues, as well as raise funds to support programs that foster children's healthy self-esteem. In 2012, the United Nations declared May 4 as Anti-Bullying Day, and now the last Wednesday each February is Canada's national Pink Shirt/anti-bullying day.
