A Lot to Celebrate in the Gym Program at Bond

September 18th, 2023

After 2 weeks of school, we have a lot to celebrate in the Gym Program.

The students completed their first Fitness Unit of the school year and enjoyed competing in many gym class challenges. We completed boot camp circuits, obstacle courses, relay races, beep tests, timed runs and a vertical leap challenge. I am so proud of the hard work of everyone and the support every student showed to all the differing abilities of everyone in their classes.

We have moved onto our soccer unit so students should watch for the changing weather and prepare for most classes to be outdoors over the next two weeks.

The Program Director is excited to announce that we are preparing to start tryouts for many of our Fall season teams. This is very exciting for both staff and students as we prepare to compete in upcoming SSAF tournaments.

This week we will begin tryouts for the Cross Country and Flag Football Teams. Tryouts will run on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 8 a.m. for Grades 1-8 students interested in joining the Cross Country Team.

Flag Football tryouts for U12 and U14 which are Grades 5-8 students will be held on Tuesday and Friday at lunch recess.

Lastly and most exciting! We will be running in our annual Terry Fox Run this coming Friday, September 22nd. We are encouraging students to raise as much money as possible for this amazing cause. Sadly, cancer has affected all of us in some capacity, big or small. We want to encourage the children to support these great causes and remember how lucky we are to have our health in today's world.

Let's continue to stay healthy, active and working hard!
