Remembrance Day Ceremony

On November 12th, Bond students and staff and parents attended the annual Remembrance Day ceremony and showed our appreciation to the veterans and people who are still serving our country.
The ceremony commenced with the school band performing the national anthem "O Canada", as all in attendance stood in respect. Our elementary principal started off the assembly with an overview of what a Remembrance Day ceremony is and how it is a solemn event.
The touching voices of the Senior Ensemble stirred touching memories and the students of Grade 2 performed a rendition of “In Flanders Fields”.
Major Paul Preikschas spoke about the history of the “Unknown Soldier” and how it came to be at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. Most importantly how relatives of all those who did not come home, could believe it was their lost husband, father, brother or son.
After a moment of silence, Shreya Srikanth played the Last Post, after which Nylah, Kennedy and Chika, laid the wreath on behalf of all Bond students and staff.
Lest we forget!
